SMG.2010.05 Physeter macrocephalus

No dia 13 recebemos a seguinte informação de Arianna Cecchetti (Terra Azul):

There was also a sperm whale floating almost motionless at the surface to its left side with the right flipper visible out of the water. It slightly moved the tail few times, but it was definitely close to its end.. : (
Yesterday when Filipe spotted a blow and we were not able to see the whale, a cargo ship was passing in the area... we thought of a possible connection with this event, however it might not be related. On the body there were some visible scars, they don't look to deep though.
Coordinates are 37°38'05.7"N 25°17'08.3"W

Contactada a Polícia Marítima foi enviada uma embarcação ao local, a qual encontrou o animal e reportou que este não só estava morto como exalava mau cheiro. É possível que os movimentos observados de manhã tivessem a ver com a ondulação ou com o vento. Apesar dos nossos avisos, o animal não foi rebocado para longe de terra.
